There’s an assumption underneath the whole Musk/Gracias narrative that an SSN is some kind of magical incantation that you can use to open up a spigot of cashola from the federal government. As though all you have to do to get on Medicaid, for example, is say “I have SSN 123-45-6789.” Mr. Musk and Mr. Gracias, being billionaires, have never had to go through the process of obtaining such benefits themselves, so their confusion on this point is perhaps understandable. Anyone who has gone through such a process knows that you need much more than an SSN to obtain benefits. To get Medicaid, for example, you need to provide proof of residency, proof of income (or rather, lack of it), and proof of citizenship or lawful resident status, among other things. In such a process, your SSN isn’t considered proof of your identity, it’s required more in its role as a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) to ensure that any benefits you receive are properly accounted for on your tax returns.

The logical progression of the narrative in the Muskiverse is:

  1. Illegal entry into the country, to
  2. SSN issued, to
  3. illegitimate benefits provided, to
  4. (illegal?) votes for Democrats

The only thing Mr. Gracias has provided clear evidence of is step 2, SSNs being issued.
